I consider myself to be an “adrenaline sports” photographer; photographing people doing what they love to do even if they are not getting paid for it.  I have photographed kayakers freefalling over 70ft waterfalls, as well as rock climbers, SXS desert racers and anything else I can get close to the action.  When I am not shooting kayakers or other sports, I also photograph engagements/weddings and portraits.

I was a volunteer firefighter for TVF&R for 12 years.  I started with knowing nothing about what it takes to be a firefighter to quickly learning and winning the first Terry Lawrie Volunteer of the Year Award.  I didn’t stop there.  I quickly worked my way up to become a Lieutenant of engine company 362 which put me in a position to help guide others through the recruit academies.  I also got engaged in our association and was the Vice President and at the same time the emcee of the volunteer banquet for 8 years straight.

When I wasn’t performing any of the above duties I had my camera in hand.  I took over 10,000 photos during my tenure with the department and some of those images are hanging on the walls of the training center.  I felt it was important to capture as many volunteers that walked the halls of the training center as possible.  At times I was asked to take photos of career training events like live fire events, woman’s academies as well as community academies.

For me taking photos and being involved still in the fire service is important to me.  The fire service taught me so much, it was important to me to find a way to give back using my strengths and talents I have learned outside the fire service.

Outside of the fire service my wife and I try and find new places to explore with or without our German Shorthair Rogue.  You can bet that I take my camera with us wherever we go.  I have lost track of how many 10s of thousands of photos I have taken of our adventures.  We have a record of probably 90% of our trips together.
